Title: Could you compete with this?
Post by: crymsonpirate on April 07, 2013, 08:21:29 pm
Brand new build, I canvassed today, about ten houses occupied, the rest under construction, would be a few hundred houses when finished.
First customer, wow its an old custy, moved in, what are the odds?
Any hows she informs me, that Barrat are cleaning windows for first year, and the site managers brother/friend whatever, is doing them for Barrat.
So thats the devil farting in my face right away in trying to get a few new customers in a nice new estate.
Any one else had this happen?
It will be a lot of work, for no money just to stitch up an estate!

Just had new houses built opposite me on the site of a school that was demolished. The windows were cleaned of the occupied houses during the construction of remaining units. Think how dirty they got with all the dust? They cleaned my windows and neighbour's too.

We used to clean windows for a building company who never charged the new occupiers.

They do it to keep them sweet whilst the site is being contructed.

I have had this, but only the fronts of show houses to keep the street looking good.

Its has happened here in Andover about 2 years ago, A firm form Southampton got given a lot of houses through a deal to clean for one year on a brand new estate.
As always you pick up work that is eventually  lost, I have now got a nice round on the estate as have several other window cleaners.
I think they might have hoped that when the deal was finished they would pick up a fair bit of the work, I have no idea what has happen to them not seen them for ages, plus the fact I'm picking work up on the estate as are others.

Its common for builders to do this. I can think of 3 new build estates near me that the builder paid for the window cleaning while the site was still under construction.

This.

Happy days for the cleaner, you get to clean a good few houses together and get paid in one lump. Have a few like this.
