went out wfp on a new estate ive been doing for 6 years every 2 weeks never any issues, this week the windows were filthy like builders had been working and the dust all over every house, anyway the windows in the shade came up as usual but the fronts in the sun were terrible i mean horrendous it was like milky chalky water was poured and left to dry, i scrubbed them 3-4 times and each time the sun dried them quickly and the same again, checked tdi which was 0 across the board even thought that was broke so used another tdi same result,changed water and went back out same result all i can think is the weather has been so bad the salt in the air and snow coupled with the sun not allowing the water to rinse before it dries although never had this in the summer with the sun scorching , anyone had similar ???

Was it windy?
We had similar - houses we have never had a problem with - spots and runs but only on certain windows not all of them.
I think it was the very strong wind whipping up the dust full of grit and salt - the air was bone dry - with the sun on the windows they were drying out before the water had a chance to run down the glass.
On the positive it was a brilliant drying day - they dried out so quickly we had chance to spot it and fix before moving on ;D
That's my theory anyway :D 'cos we've never had a problem like that before.

With reference to an older post Dirty Snow or the hail like stuff i am based in county Durham and windows have been the similar absolutely filthy .
And some problems with not drying to good over the past 2 weeks i have been taking frames a really good going over with a double rinse over the glass . Mike

There is a lot of dirt/dust being blown around in the wind at the moment.
I have noticed this week that after cleaning ground floor windows and sills that some sills looked dirty 5 minutes or so later.
Due to the sills still being wet and attracting the dirt/dust before drying. :o
A wipe round with a cloth sorted it but it is something I have never come across before.

Ive had a few like this, lots of salt on roads being blown about and becoming airborne, is been dry here for weeks,you can see it on sills and ledges.....dare I say we need a ferking good dose of rain to wash it away.

cheers fellas after talking to a few pals it seems this may be a ne issue looks like a shed load of salt from the east winds over the last few weeks , you could be right we could do with a good rain pour for a few days to get rid

Solution: have a bucket of pure water with GG3 (or 4, I can never remember which is for soft water) in it. Dip the brush in the bucket before starting to clean the window. Scrub with the detergent with the water switched off then switch water on and scrub till no suds left, then rinse as normal.

Had exactly the same ourselves, just extra rinsing required to solve it.

I was going to say that.
It's been very windy and dry for a while; so all the dust, dirt, salt is being blown about and is harder to shift because of the drying conditions.

It may be lime off the fields as farmers are using it this time of year ???

if there wooden frams the white paint sometimes breaks dawn makes the water a chalky couler and so can white plastic frams to but i think its just salt and bad weather and road dust so i have been told it aint happend to me yet thogh :-\

its salt mate the same as you get on the sea front
