He mite be attached to a sky hook.
I remember being sent for one to the local tool supplier when I was an apprentice many moons ago.
Also went for the long stand round the factory I was away hours.

You can't see how wide that ledge is.
It might look fine when you're up there.
We've all done stuff like that, I used to do weekly windows like that when I worked for Ian.
Never worried me, apart from stepping back onto the ladder after.
That was on a sloped street too....
-
You wouldn't get me up there, I'm too scared of falling.
If I was getting back onto those ladders, I'd want a decent amount of extension above the ledge.
-
I have a job I do with a couple of others periodically.
We don't even use ladders or wfp.
They do the toughest ones, but we climb out onto ledges only 3" wide, 35 - 40 feet up.. harnesses, hooked from inside.
The ledge gave way on one of the others about 3 years ago.
We've had a few heart stoppers!
-
harnesses, hooked from inside.
A harness can save your life but it still can do you an injury though.
I hope you had helmets on.
Also, a harness attached to the inside is meant to save you only if you fall out of a window. It's not meant for outside work unless you are roped up from the top of the building.
Mind you, we do one job ................. ::)

I'd be interested to read the regs on that if you know where I might find them Ross.
Harnesses and wall plugs passed by H&S annually for us.
Unless they are missing something....Which is quite possible.
