Title: Hand Cream
Post by: R.W.C.S on April 03, 2013, 08:00:34 pm
This is unfortunately a serious question....

With the cold weather we've had recently, my hands are getting really rough and my index finger is starting to show cracked lines.

I use gloves all the time, but it's still having an adverse affect.

Can anyone recommend a heavy duty hand cream?

Sounds like you need a bit tub of "man-up"

Joking aside a mate of mine had really bad hand problems every winter for years, went to docs and was given some cream that work miracles
Don't know name of cream but think he was told he had detergent dermatitis

any moisturiser will do the job.  just put it on in the morning or when you come out of the shower.  it works far better as as preventative than a cure

Neutrogena Norwegian formula.

It's the only thing that really helps the skin to repair itself fast. Unfortunately my hands get quite dry and crack and bleed, quite painful sometimes. Apply it before going to sleep, next morning its fine.

Thanks for all the tips, I've been trying the concentrated Neutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream for the past couple of days and it's starting to kick in now. Those Norwegians know what they're doing.

I have kept my one remaining 'man card' though, i bought the unscented version :-)

When I was on the tools I suffered badly with this.  My hands would dry up so much that if I clenched my fists or even just closed my hand round the pole (or squeegee handle in previous years) the skin on my knuckles would split and blood would spurt out.

My dad was a pharmacist and he told me to use pure lanolin - bit greasy but I never had any problem after that.
