Title: Strange problem
Post by: Neil Gornall on March 30, 2013, 09:58:10 am
Been wfp since 2004 and thought I had seen just about every problem, but got a new one this week that has me puzzled.

I switch on the water and all is fine, pull the hose and walk to the job and the water goes off.

But to get the water to flow again I just need to give the hose a sharp tug and its back to normal.
Every time I move and have to pull more hose it goes off but tug sharply and its back on again.
This is ok most of the time as its actually saving me water, a bit like a reverse aqua-dapter but sometimes its annoying as it does it when it chooses not when I want it.

I cant find any loose joints, there is no air in the system, when it flows its perfect and adjusts high and low as normal.

Any ideas?

Hi Neil

I had something similar about 7 years ago everything was plugged in and working but wouldn't let me have water without giving the reel a jiggle. For me it was the hozelock connector that plugged into the side of the reel. It had worn slightly as had the O ring seal on the male connector on the side of the reel and was letting the hozelock end-stop shut off until jiggled slightly.

Might be something similar.

Thanks Alex, I will change the connector and see if it helps.
