Title: Anyone use a generator instead of bettery/pump?
Post by: stevieg on March 28, 2013, 05:02:18 pm
I am fed up with batteries and pumps and was thinking about the practicalities of using a generator instead. You can get either a generator and use the pump off that or i have heard that there are also some that have the pump as part of the set-up. Does anyone use a generator and how do you get on with it ?

I have but it didn't have a pump attached. It's a backward step IMO.
I have a solar panel on my roof to keep some charge which works well.

I have a split charger professionally fitted for 2 batteries but it is dangerous to rely on it.Also i am hacked off with pumps going wrong on me!Why do you say it is a backward step?

How long do your pumps last? I've never had one actually fail in six years.

Mine are 7 years old.

I also have a 100 amp leisure battery in the van. The first one was 3 1/2 years old before it packed up, and this one is over 2 years old. The van has a split charge relay and the battery is boost charged every few working days.
