Title: lost customers this year
Post by: brynley on March 27, 2013, 04:11:17 pm
has anyone lost customers this year, it would seem that no one lets you know before you clean, sometimes you can tell but i didn't on these, so only got paid on 1 out of the 5

1 customer died.

2 customers have gone in to care homes.

1 customer won't answer door but i can hear her talking to her dead husband.

1 did a house swap.

That's shocking - most customers should tell you they are about to die.

Try and have a word with her dead husband, he might be able to get her to open the door 😜

My lost customers were all top payers not one under 25 quid so was felt by me. But life goes on as I have already replaced 60% already. The crap payers never move on.

most of the ones I have lost are due to all these recessions although people are too proud to tell you they can't afford it and give you some other excuse like my husband said he would do them.

You haven't lost it to a cheaper window cleaner if her husband/son/grandson is definitely going to do them. Chances are he won't and you will likely get them back again. This has been our experience over the years.

The winter has taken its toll on our older customers this year as well. This is one thing I dislike about this job. I become quite attached to most of my customers and this news always impacts on me quite badly. I also feel our customer's grief when they tell us that they have lost a pet as well. We are animal lovers so we also make a fuss of them as we talk to our customers.

I guess the bottom line is that we, as window cleaners, become an extended part of each family.

This is true I have a friendly relationship with my customers, never refuse a tea or coffee, stroke the dogs and generally pass the time of day. I have lost some who have died as well it always seems to be the nice ones that pass on.
