ive been contemplating reducing the working hours of the three window cleaners i have and introducing another reasons for this is the three i have all have children two are seperated from there kids so have to have them weekends and 1-2 evenings a week
this is causing me problems as i was hoping for them to work longer thru the summer and smash it at weekends coz theyre always skint but to be honest money doesnt seem biggest motivation to them which i can understand
so im thinking of just having them on 40 hours weeks nice easy days no stress over big targets not being hit but get another man in to go out in spare van obviously have some days where we stay out longer or come in earlier
i was thinking £170 day target for one man teams
£300-320 for two man team
plus i could rota them to work one weekend each to do adhoc work
-
put them on 40 hours, see what work you will have left and set another one on to do that work or do it yourself which ever works best for you, still need to have a target per van - whether its 1/2 or 3 man team,
-
Why not have your best 2 workers working together and you go with the other ladZ team that does the most it a week gets a bonus.
-
Not to contradict Mick but I'd split up the best guys.
Put the best guy with the worst for a bit.
Hopefully the good'n will bring the slacker up to speed.
-
Put the best 2 together and other on his own and you work Saturdays to catch up and one offs
-
only got one van set up as two man other ares 1 man system 300 and 400 litre systems
im just worried coz im going out getting a lot more work now and was expecting them to help out and work longer and earn more so win win situation all round
but to be honest i think having lower targets is more ideal throughout the year and wont risk lads burning out

I think have them work monday to friday 8 til 5. At an hourly rate. I would spend a day with them to retrain them. And tell them when busy they will need to work saturdays. Have it in a new contract. So if they say no or are taking the p by not doing much work get rid. Stop baby sitiing them. They are paid to work not p about mate. If it were me I would sack the lot. And get new workers that you have no conection with and tell them how it is and if they dont like dont give them the job. Also dont be to friendly with them. Remeber mate. You pay the wages. Its your company.

Richy are you nuts?
Large workforce with small targets = errr large wage bill and small profits.
Small workforce with large targets = small wage bill big profits.

they are your staff, you set working hours, or you get new staff
-
8-5 and a realistic target. can u do what you are setting them to do?
day off in the week with weather etc = they work saturday.
remember that they will not do as much as you ever ( unless u r crap ) its not THEIR business ! its yours

one of the lads from yesterday been off today as he was feeling ill yesterday and the other one did 236 today on his own they are capable of more thats why it frustrates me when they do likes of 276 for full day they shudve really done care home

There is your probken then sack the one thats off ill. As he is got to be the p taker. Also by sacking one the rest may start staying inline now due to relising you will get rid of them for taking the p mate
