You can still be paying vat and import duty unless you dress it up

How long does it usually take to arrive, 3 week?

I've had an email that it's been shipped, I have a tracking link and have just called Ultimate Washers to ask how long it takes and it's gonna be 10-13 days.
-
BDS how would you dress it up to lessen duty on these items, how and when do you get charged duty. do you have to pay extra when arrives in uk. .
Blastaway what was your total in £s. for the 20 inch whirlaway , compared to buying here
-
Wait for the letter from the courier. :'(
-
you then have to pay there charges.
-
Why would he have to pay the courier charges. Surely if you order from the website and pay shipping charges that is all in?

But not the Vat and any import duties, these are collected by either the courier or post office before they release the item.
-
Be good to know what the final charges are then?
-
Much depends on what they say the item is on the declaration.
-
There i no import duty or vat on imported rubber "uniforms" from America.....so my friend tells me.
I think anything else you could be looking at 25% of the purchase price including vat on the shipping...but i might be wrong. Imports from china don't seem to attract the same interest ?
-
I think the problems "arise" when your lot unwrap the rubber gimp suits. There seems to be a steady trade in grey imports - I know a bloke who has one and they are the sort who you wouldn't let babysit :o
-
I ordered mine from Ebay US and it took 3 days to get here!
I had to pay £25 import tax too, the item with postage cost £108, about £25 for quick release and lance so it was about £158 all in. - And it works a treat!
-
In general items from the USA attract an import tax of between 6-15% this is added to the cost then VAT @ 20% is applied to the lot. In the great scheme of things we are talking pennies in the difference so
Item Costs £100
8% Tax £ 8
Vat £ 21.60
T0tal £129.60
Change the tax to 15% the difference is £8.40 more. If anyone wants to import large items from the USA I can help with shipping as I bring in around 6 Containers every 2-3 months. I can also help with import duties as I can pre calculate these from commodity codes.
Hope this Helps

why not get gear fsc etc what people want , then sell them directly from here inc shipment to there address for a small commission. yeah its probably too much messing about . id certainly buy a 18in Whirlaway. maybe just order one later, pricewise you don't loose out

I saw that Rog.
We are still trying to get rid of the last lot from two weeks ago. In places it is still about four foot at the side of the roads.
Bit of rain forecast next week should put it to bed for this year. You southern softies will have to get your wooly jumpers out ;D
Rob ;D
-
Have you tried the mozzy yet rob?
-
No mate (good to meet you last night)
Had some personal stuff to take care of this morning, had to get a van ready for a two man job tomorrow - through the weekend, then cleaned the pick up, went to get some fuel with the lads as they set off, had my tea and have just spent a couple of hours on the RAMS for tomorrows work.
I am tidying my van tomorrow and it will get an outing on one of the roofs in the not too distant future.
Cheers
Rob ;D

i've got an m5 xjet on order from the US that's going to be arriving anyday, how do you know beforehand what the customs charges are going to be, do the couriers ring you?
-
They send you a letter mate
-
are ok thanks
-
are ok thanks
I was one step ahead though, the letter arrived the same day as the parcel(today).
I watched the tracking and the status was 'Payment of charges - Item being held, addressee being notified'.
The first 2 letters on a tracking number correspond to the courier so I found out who, rang them yesterday and paid the fee and it came today.

So worked out at £300-£400 in total? that's decent aint it?
