Post by: d s windowcleaning on March 20, 2013, 08:57:29 pm
My mates having problems with filling his tank , the booster pump runs ok for around a hour and then slows down as if the battery has gone flat , the battery as been checked at this stage and still showing full charge , if he then leaves the filling of the tank for a while then go back the pump will work fine for about another hour then do the same again any ideas thanks .

He's used a different battery but still did the same . He's allso used a different pump and this is still doing same thing , the system is a 600 ltr van mount fitted by Andrew McNann just after he left pure freedom all the 3 pumps are the same so these have been sealed over .
The battery as been checked at local motor spares after being used up to the problem starting this shown to be ok , he's used one of my batteries and still the same happens.
Now if it down to the pump is there a way to tell ? Bearing in mind that other pumps which have been used still have the same problem.
Thanks

Have you got a good quality battery charger? My Ring one blew an internal fuse so I sent it back. I resorted to using my Halfords one on my leisure battery and, after only a couple of hours on the job, the battery ran out of juice. Got my decent charger back and all was well again. The same happened to a friend of mine, he bought a cheap charger and they just don't do a proper job.

I thought that as well. It sounds as if the tank is filling and not venting so the pressure makes the pump labour.

Has he got an outlet pipe that runs part way up the outside of the tank. This may have an airlock in it that only starts to take effect once the water in the tank drops to the same level.

My mate did the same, took batt to be tested, all ok. But in the end, it was the charger.
Could he try a different charger off a friend and see if it makes any difference, just to make sure? Make sure it's a bigger charger?

Tank lid is vented to prevent pressure build up .
