As an option , I have wondered about a just setting up a trailer system and using a car or estate car , the reason I don't want two vehicles is because my wife is a non driver and two would be a waste of money. any one out there using a trailer with a car, chees Ted

MPG's aren't great but there are other benefits to be had.
We have a Navaro and it averages about 24mpg. That said, all fuel is through the business and a flat liability of £500 applies, which means the tax payable for a 20% tax payer is £100 per year and £200 per year for a 40% tax payer.
As for the vehicle itself the tax liability is a flat rate of £3000, ie, a 20% tax payer will pay £600 per year whilst a 40% tax payer will pay £1,200 per year.
Worth considering if you're sure you don't want a van.
That said, you can pick up a cheap van and sytem for £2000 easy enough. I'd go for this option if you can. Keep work and home seperate. Be a pain if you need to be out but you're filling your tank.
