this is a strange one... i got a call for a quote to do this house as i pulled up owner came out and asked if i used the pole thingy when i said yes she says dont bother with quote when i asked why ? she said she had new windows fitted and the last guy was wfp and made her windows go all misty inside the double glazed units ,what ever happend in her conversation with window company god knows but the up shot of it is wfp causes the sealed unit to fail they said. thats a new one on me. seems like to me the company is wriggling out of the warenty.may be they were dodgey in the first place

you should of asked which window company as i have heard this before,ring them up and tell them you are going to tell everyone not to use there window company because there units steam up.

this is a topic that i think does not have a proper answer i use wfp and i would say yes they do give the seals a helping hand to pack in , but also i dont think the seals are as good quility as they used to be . had a few asked me to do of ladders as seals have gone so for the few who want it that way i do them of ladders makes no diffrence to me i would rather wfp but at end of day they are paying me .

Move on; they would have been a customer from hell anyway. She saved you.

she bet me to it ie what about when it rains, she said that its because water is being forced at the seals it causes them to fail ??? ??? sounds like a get out clause by the window company to avoid replaceing the offending unit to me >:(

Should have asked her were they using a power washer.
This muppet has been fitted with faulty units and hasnt the wit to
realise it.

The only possibility I can see and have considered is that if the seal is gone at the top, WFP could, cenceivably show up the problem in a way that rain couldn't.
Either way, the problem is with the double glazing and should be taken up with them. She might just not want that fuss.
Customer of mine had marks all over her new windows - they look like oil stains, but aren't. Her window people told her that it was because they weren't designed to be cleaned using WFP. I tradded them, scrubbed them, did everything I could to clean them and told her the problem was the glass. She decided to live with it rather than chase the window firm.

Pretty poor quality window if it can't stand up to being cleaned with a wet brush.

i had this last year, 3 cleans and woman phones saying don't clean no more as windows are full of water,
i had a look , and they were,
i said to her your windows must be faulty, it should be a sealed unit, it should not get in.
later that day i plucked a no out of yellow pages, double glazed fitters, and he said the same, the unit is faulty.
he said no way should water get in, and he should know, he makes them. john.

I have replaced many window glass as I do this as a service for my customers mainly on conservatories. For the seal to leak must be manufactured badly as a leak is nearly impossible unless they are bad quality or older than 10 years old .I have even replaced the glass on one side of a sealed unit and never had a leak yet and have been doing this for four years. Most frames have a drain between the frames and the window which gets blocked. Which means the frames has its base in water if this is drain is blocked.I spray my hose at full pressure between the sill and frames and you see the muck come out.

I have heard on here from some cleaners that pure water is really bad on your hands etc could it not also be bad on the seals?,just a thought :)

You've done a couple of surveys a number of years apart by which to compare?

Perhaps it would be aN idea to carry a small double glazed unit about in the van, only 3"x3", to show how much force is reuired to move the silicone sealing in the double glazed unit.
go to a glazing manufacturer it probably wouldnt cost more than a tenner, but you could prove a point.

I wonder would hot water hitting glass in minus temperatures
cause the seals to split. :-\

not done any surveys like i say IN MY EXPERANCE 20 YEARS i find when i used to trad them they did not go as much but now i wfp them i notice they go .

I have also had a couple of customers in the last 12 months suggest that the wfp had made the seals go. I just tell them its highly unlikely and that it happens to all units eventually however they are cleaned, then give them a card for the local window repair company. I do like Matt's idea of having a small unit to show them, will get that sorted next week and keep it in the van.

You've made a rod for your own back. Every blown sealed unit will be "your fault". Madness!

It baffles me how anyone can possibly think that WFP can cause a double glazed unit to fail. The two pieces of glass are sealed together and air tight and filled with an inert gas and then to top it off the black rubber seals also prevent water getting in to an already sealed unit. How a soft brush agitating the dirt on the glass make water ingress past the rubber seal (possibly maybe, at times), but then to ingress into the glass vacuumed sealed unit makes it very improbable unless jet washing windows.
Actually paying for someone's new window is crazy, do some research, print it off, hand it to them, take them of your list and point them in the direction of their window suppliers and leaflet drop or canvass to replace them:)

buy replaceing you are addmitting your at fault why would you do that if you know its rubbish its beyond me.youve left your self wide open to claims next it will be youve scrached all my windows are you gonner replace those as well.im not having ago at you but you have to be on the ball at all times imo.
