Hi folks just wondering what way you deal with customers who you tell you to "leave it today"? drop them or have a word with them or just put up with it?
Had two the day, one was the first time but the 2nd is a regular for not today, ranging from excuses that she is having power washing done which ran on for two months and also not today because the sun will dry the water on the windows too quickly (wtf!!!)
She's def a goner!
thinking of giving everyone one chance and if it happens again drop them as they don't seem to consider the time and travel that you take to be told to leave it.
Also wondering is it worth getting everyone's number to text the night before so they can leave payment out or does this just give more people the chance to tell you to give them a miss?

If its a rain leave it. I do just that. Leave it and charge double next time. If don't like I drop them.im done with this type of custi. Lost ks over the years I reckon. .

depends on the customer, if it's for a real reason building/garden work being done then fair dos.
you can't build a business with 'regular' not to days so I'd drop.
most proper customers who want their windows kept clean won't say not today, just takes somework to find them

Unfortunately window cleaning
Is a luxury not a nessecity
So if your priced around the tenner mark
And it's a toss up of a packet of cigs
Or paying you , your getting turned away
Simples windows is a numbers game
Man with most numbers wins

dump the second one
and then give everyone at least one chance

1. When you take them on tell them your business terms which should be that you call and clean regularly.
2. Call and clean regularly.
3. If they ask/tell you "to leave it"* remind them of 1.
4. a) If they respect your original agreement then stick with 2.
b) If they don't then drop.
5. Carry on with your regular and mutually respectful customers.
*Exceptions for Gold, only applies to long term good custy who has never before messed be about:-
"Hubby just died, me 'eads wrecked." (Or I turn up at the same time as the funeral cortege - see post 8078 ;D)
"I'm so sorry (pointing at scaffolding), I forgot to tell you we're having a new roof, windows, extension ... " (This excuse gets the lecture of: "I need to run a regular business and I have calls asking me to clean all the time, it would have been nice if I had known and I could have fitted one of them in..."
Do not let them off for:
Holidays, weather, lazy son in bed at 11 am, dog goes mad, I'm going out and I won't unlock the gate as I don't want it left open, plumber, carpet fitter or gardeners here, got flu etc etc.
Train 'em; do a top class job and let another windie have the cack.
