you must be careful with solvent spotters on some carpet tiles though.......Bitumen backing!

if there thick and in a school it could well be blu-tac or chewing gum these will both go black with dirt
id try a chewing gum remover if you cant get any iv heard white spirit will do the same thing

im sure though if using any of the above or the solvent suggested by craig that you have to check the back of the tile first to make sure its not bitumen backed. if it is i dont think any are suitable.

another thing if there thick try scrapping the worst of with a blunt knife first

try something like citrus gel it's less likely to disturb the backing if it is bitumen, then rinse

first of all try a steam gun and then if no joy make sure the bitumin from the carpet backing has not come through from previous attempts

When you use any spotter use a small amount, then with a clean terry towel see which one  transfers onto the towel. This will give you a good idea whether it's water based or solvent.

When you have finished this job get yourself booked in on a training course urgently.

when the bitumen coems thru does it apear as small black dots ive tested that in the corner and thats what i got?
When you say power wand do you mean one of ashbys power brushes? are they worth there money then most of my work will be domestic aswell especially after this disasterlol

I think trying a solvent isnt a bad idea but would STRONGLY advise not use a steamer or to leave it in the carpet for more than a few seconds and not too push it into the carpet, even if the carpet isnt bit backed it is probably bonded and solvents will lift the carpet  :o :o

u can learn the basics of carpet cleaning in an hour, its not your cleaning its your jobs   , these jobs are best left to big powerfull truck mounts imo stick to domestics

Did you just keep going over them nick? Im worried about over wetting.
I know you can pick up the basics quite quickly but tis the tricky stains that you cant pik up quickly how to get rid of and what chemicals are best

if you are thinking of a powerbrush i think the extracta scrubba or the rotovac are the ones that seem to get the best reviews.

theres 2 scrubbas for sale on this site at the minute (one of thems mine) i think there brilliant myself.

training wise, i would say iirc theres one on the 7-8th of march you might still get on at alltec not to far for you if your in essex its just down the m11.

we done a school recently, hard with a porty, 1 room we had to go back lots of paint and stuff in a right mess didnt get a good enough result, went back and used power scrubber (with porty) much better results, happy customers then.

gary whats a power wand?  or you just mean power scrubber?

I never use my Extracta power tool on carpet tiles, in fact the best method for this type of carpet is Texatherm/Dry Fusion, if you over wet carpet tiles they will wick up badly especially if they are very soiled.

As has already been said a school is a very difficult place to start, Paint/Blue tac/glue/soil/ink all on low profile carpet tiles is bad enough for any system.

keen2clean, click on this link for details of training course http://alltec.co.uk/main.php3?primNavIndex=6&mainURL=%2Fpages%
2F67963 i havent been on it myself but from what i gather this course is quite in depth and technicall most of the supplier courses are more hands on and i wouldnt think the prochem would be that different to the ashbys

DON'T use solvent on carpet tiles if you are new to carpet cleaning, you will over do it and break down the bitumen backing.
It sounds like a dirt, probably attached by a residue collecting spotter, used previously, keep flushing through and eventually you should get it clean. Tiles can take a lot more cleaning the your average carpet.
