Hi CMS
In your post you say you have never one a single contract by advertising
is that still the case , and if so how many hours a week do you spend
on the road doorknocking ?

Yes that's right. Never in 26 years have I ever won a contract through an advert of any kind. This may change with the development of the internet (which I suppose is advertising).

Don't forget, I started in this game when to have a fax machine in your office was considered high-tec!

Every quote we did was individually typed on a typewriter............. ??? :-[ :-[ :-[

I spend one full day each week on the road collecting compliment slips. That gives me about 100 each week (= 10 quotes = 3-5 contracts).

Have you used a sales person for this or do you always do it yourself ?

Obviously, in previous periods of 'employment' as Regional Manager, Director etc., I have had a sales team. However, since CMS Limited was formed I have done it all myself.

Hi CMS
Have you ever used stories in the trade press for generateing leads
in your business . This is something we have started to do (we have
stories in feb issues of CHT and Cleaning and Maintenance )

No - never. I reckon its only other Cleaning Companies who read trade mags. Not sure how that could generate you leads.

We always go through the local newspapers though. Lots of news about who is moving where in the business sections.

Hi CMS
I reckon you are probably correct in that it is mostly cleaning
companies that read trade mags, however some clients that are big
enough to have a dedicated cleaning manager would recieve the mags
as well . So if anything comes from the mags I hope it will be a large
 account (over £50,00 per year)
