Use the publicity and build your business, also as you donate to charity, why not ask these charities to help you canvass as they can offer your window cleaning service and at the same time they are raising money for the charity.
Keep up the hardwork Gerald.

I`m hoping to use the scouts & brownies to canvass but am concerned about taking work away from others. Looking to gain customers who at present don`t have their windows done.
Going to be doing car valeting & wheelie bins plus patios/driveways but later when I can afford wfp system. Going to use waste from ro for everything else, have spoken to environment agency & the guy said I might be allowed to use the waste without the need to recycle it further but have also been told I can`t so we`ll see. How much product can you expect at maximum efficency, is it forty percent or can you sqeezee a little more out?

I had a problem with a similar offer of a charity clean. I work loads of soldiers houses, and some guy had the idea of a sponsored window clean. €5 a pop. Walked all over one of the estates we work and that month, I reckon I lost about 1K's worth of work!!! Some still asked me to clean anyway as they were minging and only had the offer to pay the €5 into the box.
If you're going to use Brownies and Guides or Scouts to canvass, this can damage the WC's in your area and make you about as popular as a fart in a space suit.
Up to you in the end though.

Typical Sun angle on a story - nothing about all of Gerald's hard work getting trimmer so he can do the physical job window cleaning is plus his links to charities etc.
Reminds me why I never read this rubbish!
-
Why get other people to canvass? When you can do it yourself and lose weight with the exercise you'll be doing canvassing?
-
Legendary Gerald...
Shame about the paper...

chris p bacon. I said that I was concerned about taking work from other window cleaners. The scouts will be wanting to get as many as possible & that will result in other wc`s losing work which I do not want. One point of my strategy is it will encourage people who don`t have their windows done to do so because of the charity connection. If however someone is not happy with their present window cleaner then that`s another matter. If that wiindow guy approaches me I am more than willing to step aside to give him a chance to retain that customer but that`s up to the customer.
I understand a lot of guys have worked hard to build up there rounds & I`m not going to steal work from them. Every person I speak to I ask if they have a person at present, if the answer is yes I decline unless they are adament they will not use them again. What would you do, I can`t afford to turn all of them down so I think I`m being fair. Please inform me if anyone thinks not.
You are all lovely people, accept Mike at facelift. He`s bloody wonderful.

Ha thanks Gerald... I set out to be a gem! Pretty sure most start up's try and stay the right side of fellow window cleaners...
Comment about the paper was something most from up here would say.

This coming monday ITV news are interviewing me in Gloucester. Oh my God. I think I might be on my way to earning a little more than £7.50 an hour.
