I have two hosereels and they both leaked.
The connector on the hosereel seemed to be the problem.
On one reel i had a black plastic one and on the other reel i had a brass one.

Anyway i thought it was the hoselock connectors i was connecting to the reel so i tried other one's.

It turned out to be the actual male connectors on the hosereels and it took me nearly 10 months to stop them leaking.

I changed both to the yellow hozelock tap connectors using plent of pfte tape and now they are both leak free.

I think its because they are the same make as the hose connectors so giving me a tighter fit.

Anyway the hozereels i use are standard hozelock proffessional.
And also a proffessional wheeled 60mtr metal hozereel the same as andrews water treatment sell.

My reels dont leak Gaz. I will post a close up photo later today. Facelift supplied mine but they have fixed brass connections to it.

My reels are fixed in the van so I never knock the connections, I think Gardiner sell reels that look the same, but I am not sure what connections they use.

I have no leaks whatsoever in the van.

Nel.

I find that a bit of PTFE tape does the job.

If you are having problems with leaking threads, besides ptfe tape put some of this on the thread before the ptfe tape.
It never sets hard, It cured my leaking nylon threads on my DI tanks. £4.99 from Focus or B&q

I`ll be trying new hose reel i got today  ::),i went to my local hose specialist today (Oakbray)they only sell quality products i got a couple of connectors for my pump from there a while ago and have been great no leaks,so when i saw this hose reel same make called Claber i thought now thats got to be worth trying out, expecting it be about £40 or £50 i was pleasantly suprised when i was told including vat total was £21.60 ,it`s all connected up and iv`e had my pump running and so far no leaks  ;D,so fingers crossed,Gaz

Cheers Mark,iv`e had a couple of plastic reels a cheap nasty one and a hozelock both leaked, but this is very good quality all the connections are sturdy and the actual plastic is very tough, all the products that Claber do are of very high standard,so i think i might be changing a few connectors for the Claber ones,i`ll see how it goes this week,Gaz  ;)

hi gaz

i have the nortern tools reel . its for air not water . the air ( or water ) travels through part of the body ( metal ) and will rust .

i have replaced the fittings now ( not easy ) and it great now .

its perfect shape / size for me . its very strong and is smoth to reel in .

if you dont mind alot of messing about and can get the fittings you need ( or make them like i did ) then its great . but personaly if i could buy one of the correct size / shape i would have done
