Just wondered if anyone thinks dog earing works and do you have to detail afterwards. Wanted to ask before i destroy a channel for nothing. Also i do an estate with all same size windows would it be quicker to cut channel to size of window and do one pull stroke down after drying top of frame.Got about 40 houses same size. Thanks.

If there all the same size then yeah why not, it would be quicker. (more boring mind) ;)

Cutting is a good idea, and yes, dog earing in some cases means no need to detail if you are good at fanning.

Channels are cheap so why not?
Always dog ear mine, not sure if it makes any difference cos I've done it since day dot but I do hardly any detailing.

Excuse my ignorance what is dog earing?

Cutting in from the end of the channel by a few mill and bending them towards the rubber. Some swear by it for me its a waste of time and no I dont do excessive detailing!!

I have dog earred all my channels although what seems to have even more effect is keeping the rubber cut as short as possible and stretching it tight using clips.

Been a bit scared to cut channel as i've got wagtail whirlwind and it's great but pricey to mess up. Best tool i've bought. I normally wfp everything but just picked up some work that no good wfp i.e milky windows. I've just started doing traditional downstairs on these and if i could speed up detailing seems as quick as wfp. Might be wrong.

i found with dog earing it can make a little dent in the rubber, like a pimple and this transfers to the window as a small line
if you have enough rubber protruding from the channel you shouldn't need to dog ear
