Title: Generator Question
Post by: Matt Gibson on March 09, 2013, 12:48:00 pm
Need a new generator. preferably 5kva as i need to run the steamer off it and my 2.5 just hasn't got enough guts.

Seen a couple on eBay, but just wondered if anyone has one laying around they wouldn't mind selling. Don't really want to spend over £400 delivered.

Petrol is fine as it wont be getting used day in day out.

I have a small 2.5 honda genny that ill be getting rid of if i get a bigger one, so could PX with some cash.

I have a Honda 6.5kva. Paid five hundred plus (second hand) and only used once, might sell for four hundred. I am based Mr Manchester. 07921 766022.

Tom,

Thanks for the offer mate but i got one sorted from eBay.

Anyone know what is the right oil to put in a 4 stroke 11HP single cyl generator engine?
Heard something about low/high detergent oils.. clueless...

Most oils have detergent in them after the black engine syndrone. Any mineral oil that says suitable for diesel engines will be fine - standard oil 10-40.

Its a petrol.. but if the detergent factor isnt an issue then ill just get the right rated oil.

Remove the face plate to find the 3 wires and fit a rubber face plate

I was thinking of changing the sockets. Is that all it is? just remove the plate and wire a new socket on?

Are the plugs powered the same as the british ones? same wires go to the same pins?
