I have been looking into getting some hypo and have noticed there is different strengths, what percentage do you guys use and what mixture do you use with water?

This is something i'm interested in too... As a newbie to the hypo world, i'd be interested in seeing how other people use it and what mixes etc..

I did look into it before but the job I was going to use it on did not come off, however I have done a couple of jobs recently that have been left with black spots and I think hypo is the only stuff that will get it off.
I did read something about oxygen bleach but I'm not sure if it would be strong enough.

Oxy bleach is sodium percarb, considered friendly by tree huggers and can be used over a water course as alternative to hydroxide but works slower than hypo. Buy hypo as strong as you can get, start diluted and bring up to a strength that works. PPE

not being funny but if you used a half decent bit of kit , you would rarely require chems

If it was only down to kit then why is there members on here that use Hugh psi machine with high flow rates that still use hypo?
The kit I have cleans what I use perfectly but sometimes there is black spot etc, it would be nice to find a chemical that will removes easier.

Mike I don't think you understand hypo as well as you could do.
This is the job were on today in Blackburn cleaning walls for housing prior to repointing works.

Lee given u advice and u have returned favour . Dont want to make remarks on pics ref another post but as you are using pic, No way we could do that around here unless we recovered waste nightmare, know about soft washing but if you use a domestic spec machine results will be ltd without chem as u know

I know what you're saying but for patios I.e Indian stone, flagstone paving etc domestic washers are all you need along with chem.

Thanks blast away that's exactly was I was getting at, yes without chems you could probably got the same results however with the amount of pressure would have had to use the whole wall would have needed to be rebuilt.
Great outdoors I don't think you get where I'm coming from I don't need chems for everything I do as the kit I have does the job, the spec is higher than your average pressure washer.
What I'm interested in is hypo, or any other chem to help finish off a job well done by removing the black spots etc.
Bdcs and blast away do you think oxygen bleach would do the job as well? I understand it may take longer but like I say I wouldn't need it all the time so would need something I could store.

Is this stuff ok to rinse into a gutter drain. I have only just started using it. But I've got a nice rear indian sandstone patio to try it on. Not many black spores but plenty of algae so will be a great chance to use it.
What do you guys think to maybe doing a 'definitive hypo' thread, with walk through guides and FAQs from one of you hypo kings?

I've had a play with sodium percarb, still got about 20kg in a drum. Mix it with hot water. Like Carl said takes longer.

Did that one phase in one day and the other phases will be done when I get the nod, dunno when that will be but need notice I've told them. Although we're back in Blackburn tomorrow morning (Sunday) to clean a bit of tarmac for the same contractor on a primary school, bit of an urgent request as they hand over next week. It's round the corner from Wimberley estate we did Trev off Pleckgate Road if you're coming.
