Title: Best Websites
Post by: Roy Harding on March 07, 2013, 03:51:48 pm
The best window cleaning websites I like are

http://www.windowcleandirect.co.uk/

http://www.purple-rhino.co.uk/

http://www.clearmagic.co.uk/

I know the latter has had bad business dealings. But still a nice site, and probably my favorite.

I think there is a difference between what a person in the trade feels is a good website and what a potential customer thinks is a good website.

Websites can be one of the best investment for advertising, people like my site but to be honest i don't think its that great yeah it looks ok but for me its only a stepping stone.

My aim next year is to get a new custom site professionally done that looks good but is also alot more functional Eg. Card payment page, text enlargement for older people, simple clear layout and price generator

Thanks Paul

WordPress can be a pain but once you get used to the program its ok.

But for what i want out of a website i just can't do it myself and from the last two sites i have had i know that even if i spent £1500 on one i would get a good ROI

If you're building a new website, research how "responsive" designs work with different screen sizes - its a brilliant way of making your site mobile/tablet friendly without loosing any features of the full site.  ;)

hey nat could you redo my payments page , i wanna add payatrader to it and such.
also need a price on a tablet friendly site to tag onto it as 25% of my visits are off mobile equipment

the site is joomla

Sorry Carl - I'm not very good with Joomla!

If you're considering a phone/tablet friendly site to "tag on" it might be an idea to replace the lot while you're doing it - the responsive sites are like 4 different sites in one, with different layouts for the major screen sizes, so you don't need a separate site for mobiles/tablets anymore.  ;)

Viewing it for more than 20 seconds is distressing plus the booking form does not work.

Your site is 'different' Stuart. An acceptable term by which to describe it?

Anyway, do you get many enquires from it?
Title: Re: Best Websites
Post by: SunShineCleaning on March 17, 2013, 09:23:44 pm
I would accept 'different' as a compliment. I dont want to be the same as others.

Enquiries keep trickling in. I don't need new work so I have tried a minimalist approach.

I don't need to make out I'm national or anything greater than I am, I often think it puts people off. I also think too much info about me me me is not what customers look for. They first and foremost ask "What's In It For Me?" While not laying it on thick I think I have tried not to focus on me.

I've been working on my website for a few months now and starting to feel like i've got it sussed. What do you guys think?

http://www.mpw-london-window-cleaners.co.uk/

I know it is important to try and think like a potential client and not someone in the industry so it is hard to look at my own work objectively...
