Title: For those that employ wife
Post by: DaveG on March 07, 2013, 02:16:21 pm
Are they a partner in the business or do you pay them a wage? If you do pay her  a wage do you pay the full tax free allowance?

Cheers

I'd have thought it just through PAYE the same as a regular employee.

I dont do it on George. I simply give my income to my accountant and he tells me what each of us have earnt. It worked our better last time even though Mrs S had to pay tax.

nothing naughty about payng your wife to the max of her allowance, good business sense. If she's a partner she'll have to do a separate tax return so unless you pay tax at higher rate better to employ her plus you can sack her if she gets on your teets
