This very nearly happened to me a couple years ago during a storm. A ridge split and 2 tiles came sliding from the highest point of the roof, jumped the gutter and landed right next to me. The scariest part was I had my daughter in my arms about to put her in the car. Scary stuff.

You've got a Guardian Angel for sure you're one lucky dude!!!
Some years ago I cleaned a hotel in Ireland.
Long before WFP, cleaning the fourth floor from the inside - the first window I did - didn't realise the hinges were rusted through on nearly all the top opening windows and they were big ones!
Anyway the window broke off and smashed on the pavement right over the entrance - Scary and very, very lucky.
