What was in the pump before hand? Chemical reaction?
Also Compressing "things" causes heat. Heat cause gasses. Gasses cause explosions.
Contrary to believe Sodium hypochlorite is highly unstable and extremely corrosive.

i left some in there for a few days so maybe it corroded it a bit.
the sprayer was rinses out before the hypo.

What pump did you use?
Was there any acid in the pump before you added hypo?
You can't leave for a few days Richy, that's why there about 4 holes in the cap on the drum. The gases escape over time, best used within a week. I've seen one left for a month and there be no strength left in it and becomes weaker.

Just one of these cheap ones. Acid has never been used in there.

Do I need one with viton seals?
I won't be leaving it in there again - Almost gave me a heart attack!
When you say used in a week. If the hypo stays in the barrels unopened can they be stored for longer?

I tend to use Ikon, though any one could theoretically explode if they had a hairline crack after a drop or something.
Might be an idea to pump up dry if you drop one or suspect damage.
You could have been melted :o

I'd be thinking more about frost exposure

Yep, all sizes and always from solo sprayers.
I do have a wcw battery one too which I use for weed-killer.

We had an IK12 once until hypo run down my back

I dont know about frost in this case, as it hasnt been majorly cold. And I was using it a few days before when it was still mild. But it may have had a hairline crack in it as like I said, it is has had a lot of use.
Do you guys use hypo when cleaning fascais? or TFR? Hypo cleans them well, but I wont want to spray it from the ground!
