hi guys just wondered how many window cleaners these days are jw,s only reason i ask is quite alot of the window cleaners i know are also i used to go to the meetings as a child so and my dad went so thats sort of how i got into window cleaning. im guessing its due to being able to choose your own hours and do the ministry work? there is nothing behind this question i just wonder if other peoples areas are like mine in this respect? cheers Dean

i know of at least 8 window cleaners hear that are and they are realy nice chaps

Seems from what you read on here there's loads of the pesky rascals. I never knew there were before joining CIU, prior to which I'd been a shiner for about 8 years I guess.
I havent got a clue how many shiners round my way are. I know a few of them, most seem to be fire-men not tamborine-bashers. Perhaps they are and dont want to spout off about it. I wouldn't. They do have a rough time of it regarding public perception.

There is a formula for working out how many on average there are,
I can't remember it from the top of my head,
Its something like a=bw2,
Don't quote me on it though.

only thing that made me bring up the subject was a comment i read in cleanclear argument thread lol

I think Alex Gardiner is of that church,as are all his employees

In my town I know of at least six, of which I am one.

You know what? I think its simply wonderful that so many window cleaners have such a nice imaginary friend.
I just wish they wouldnt knock on the door to tell me about him.

You should be receiving an invite in the next week or so. If you accept it, you will meet all of the jw shiners, in your town, in person :)

No malice intended by the following, just interested or maybe bemused.
I'm wondering why you felt the need to tell us your position or rank 'elder in the faith'
Wouldn't the humility (isn't humility one of the qualifications of being an elder?) of an elder stop him from doing that? Wouldn't someone come across as more 'normal' by excluding such details? Or do I misunderstand you? I'm interestd why you told us that whole others haven't.

loads round yer, but how many MORMONS are window cleaners, that is the question I'd like the answer to

It could be inferred that he's stating he's an Elder to let other lesser ranked JWs to be careful what they post.
But I could be wrong.

You're a Buddhist, aren't you? Is this a Zen 'Beginners Mind' thing?

i am a normal person
Being 'normal' is extremely subjective. I don't think there's such a thing as an objectively normal person, because someone will find something weird about them, thereby proving they're not normal.
Squeaky, for example, looks normal (in low light conditions), yet he's Welsh and has a penchant for wearing his mother's underwear. I find that abnormal (being Welsh that is).
Can I ask what's your definition of a normal person?

Am I the only one who read the thread title as "how many Window cleaners are Jews?"
Not many, they all work in banking and law.

I took James ' remark as him adding a little insight to his affirmation, perhaps along the lines of, I'm a musician, a drummer in the band in fact.
I think you"ll find that he'd be prepared to wash the congregations feet.

Perhaps I should just add that James, being an elder, doesn't 'hold rank' over his congregation. He serves as one of a body or group. As a body they put in a lot of their own time to help those who may be in need. The time he and other elders put in is all done willingly and free, and in some cases may be at any time of the day or night. One qualification of an elder is to be humble, to put others interests before his own. I don't know James personally, but I do know if he wasn't humble he wouldn't have been appointed as an elder.
Hope this goes some way to help explain, and no, I am not an elder myself.
John
PS How about getting back to the original question. ;)

It sort of works like reverse promotion. Being an Elder doesn't give you a position of power just more responsibility and care of the Congregation.

Sadly you probably do believe that!

That's how it should be - if it isn't, then something is wrong.

Guys, I'm going to lock it; I don't see what this really has to do with window cleaning. If you want to discuss religion (a subject I personally find fascinating), start a new post on the off-topic part of this forum.
