I spoke to Chris Surgeon (Bane UK) about it in passing a few months ago and his opinion the increase in vacuum of 30% was a bit well stretched.
It's gone direct drive so there is no belt to the vacuum pump from the motor.
I've upgraded twice from a Bane but I still think they are a cracking machine, never break down, cost nothing to run.
But lacking in heat, and pressure.

I have a bane clean machine in my long wheel base sprinter it is a cracking machine had since new. Its about 5 years old now and had very few problems with it. It is hooked up to a 145 gallon clean water tank in van which heats up while you drive as the heating element in the tank is heated by the engeins coolant. Also have in line heaters if needed. Also the recovery tank holds around 145 gallons of water witch makes it great on flood jobs. When cleaning carpets you can clean all day with out filling. As this is an electric driven machine it is not as powerfull as some petrol truck mounts. But this does not bother me as long as you have preped your carpet properly you can get same results and it is not high matanance like petrol trucks and running costs are 0. I also carry a portable machine to for those hard to reach places. GREAT MACHINE once you have yoused 1 you will never want to go back to yousing a portable again.

If you have a look here www.newlifecleaning.com/blog (http://www.newlifecleaning.com/blog) I did an article on them last year when I realised we had had our original Bane machine for over 20 years.
Mind, even though I know the Bane family I still got a snorter of an e-mail telling me not to forget their trade mark ;-)
If you ever want to 'play' with one before investing just contact me. Phil D

I have the same set up as Darren Fairlamb but in a Mazda, it used to belong to Clive Ware(He bought it from new I think) and I bought the whole lot just before Christmas 2008. The previous owner(A window cleaner) drove up from near Dover(5-6 hours)on the Sunday before Christmas day. He'd had it on E Bay several times and never received any bids. I contacted him privately and offered him his last asking price which he declined preferring to wait for the auction to end, then he contacted me and accepted. I got the whole kit and caboodle for a few pence more than a Scorpion, he was gutted when I paid him'cos he'd expected to get three times what I gave him, but we fed and watered him then I put him on the train in Wigan(I paid the fare)Real nice guy who wanted to get into carpet cleaning then realized that window cleaning was a whole lot safer and easier. The Bane is a great credit to Clive as it still looks superb and I love it- no more ear plugs, but I really hate it when I have to use my portie. Mike.
