Title: Hi Viz
Post by: Moderator David@stives on February 25, 2013, 02:49:18 pm
Is a Hi Viz required when cleaning windows in a cordoned off pedestrian area at night, no traffic or pedestrians can get on site.

Also is Hi viz required when working on a scaffold tower ?

I personally have my ideas, just interested if anyone knows the definitive answer.

I put mine on once a week. I never wear it at other times as it says "community payback" on it and it would I think send out the wrong message to my customers.

I guess the definitive answer to both is no. But for the sake of it why not just wear one anyway?

Your mate should wear them in bed as they are waterproof.

Why do you cordon off if no traffic or pedestrians can get on site?

What does your risk assessment say?

My personal view would be to wear hi-viz in both circumstances as you will have other operatives working on the same site.  If only one person is on site that needs addressing in your RAMS.

If you put it in your risk assessment then you should stick to your word regardless of any laws
