Why dont you buy it Mike ?.
-
glynn I am slightly tempted mainly because its a diesel engine( Kubota i think) and I use a kubota engine at the moment and I'm really impressed with it. like barry says they go on for ever
but i don't need another T/M
at £1500 its a bargain, although it might get bids near the end

It's an old machine and could be a liability unless your mechanically minded, perfect for you, glyn ;)
-
Mike,
At least it's a proper truck mount and seeing as you don't have such a thing I thought it may be a good move for you.

Don't you think I have enough Truckmounts already Si ?.
-
Yeah, but then you'd have one more than me ;D

I wonder if you could sneek a fuel line into the red diesel tank for you van.
That way if the police ever test your van tank would still have white.
I would never do this just exploring the theory ;D ;)

all good until they test the emissions of the vehicle...
They can tell if red diesel is being used by what comes out of the exhaust...

What are these TM like? Are they generally reliable? Looks a bargain, I may be tempted. There is a video on there and it says 4000-5000 hours, is that high or low for a TM?
-
TM's are generally speaking very reliable indeed. The older they get the more likely you are to have problems, but then that is true of any piece of machinery. The lifespan of a TM is often down to how well it has been looked after throughout its lifetime, but you can generally tell that from its appearance and how well it runs, how quickly the heat exchangers pick up heat (and loose it when the trigger is pressed which determines the temperature it will maintain in use), how smooth the pump is and how generally the machine sounds. The only way of determining that is to try before you buy.

Cheers Simon, in general the appearance looks good. I might try to make arrangements to go and see.

They don't test that way though, they stick a dip stick down the filler cap.
It is only a red dye added.

I have heard people say that they can check via exhaust fumes, not sure if it is true
or just a myth put out by the inspectors.
I had to refill van at a service station other day, it was £1.55 a litre, I put a tenners worth in to get me home.
Attendant asked if that was all i required, i said yes at these prices

Our local Texaco garage (in conjunction with the Co-op) is the most expensive around here. Now and again I pop in for a drink or to do the lottery and the people behind the till always say, "Any fuel?" To which my reply is "Not at your prices!"
-
The only difference between white n red diesel is that red has a dye in it therefore a emissions test will not pick up on the red diesel.
Anyone using red diesel in a vehicle should be aware though that your vehicle in many cases will be ceased by customs.
