Well this is no doubt down to lack of knowledge / experience my my part, but what I have done wrong is a mystery to me.
Using Dynamall 10-1, rotary with a brush on.

To be fair, the carpet has not been cleaned for 14 years but I thought it would come up better.
I'm going back tomorrow to finish off and I'm thinking of going over again with HWE - I know I can get a better result than this.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers
Owen

you may think this a silly question Owen..
But did you vac once it was dry??
-
Yes, I did :'(
-
wow it looks worse after clean but it also looks like something has been down a Mat etc due to the neatness of the lines at the side whitch over time has discoloured the fibres with all the ware and tear.
i also think with that degree of soiling a 4-1 mix would of been better.
-
Well, I could try 4/1. That's an expensive mix though, but I'll give it a go. This clean is about learning rather than making much money.
Someone else suggested a red scrubbing pad.

Steve
Any news on those Devizes jobs? - looks like I need some expert training!
-
I would think a red scrubb would of been better and maybe try 8-1 a bit stronger allthough personally it looks to me like the carpet is discoloured Jamie from cleaning systems uk is your best man for advice on this no doubt he will see this soon and advise accordingly.

Carpet is beyond cleaning in terms of visual clean. It has too much uv damage along with the wear damage and thats before you remove the muck.
I would not encapp this but hwe
-
HWE tomorrow then. I live and I learn.
-
That is a classic "not suitable for low moisture cleaning" if ever I saw one.
-
Spot on Paul. We did one like that today.

Owen, I would not clean a carpet like that at all, i would tell the customer its too far gone and to put the money into a new carpet.
You can literally spends hours on carpets like this for a 50% visual clean, the stress is not worth it.
Remember your using a cleaning wand and not a magic wand.
Owen some carpets cannot be cleaned so they look like new again, imagine if you have a 15 year old battered car and took it to the valeters, you will pick up a clean and shiney battered 15 year old car but it wont be show room condition. Just like that carpet wont look like near new once cleaned ;)
-
Thats what i meant Paul,we walked away from one like that today, for the reasons you state.

Ian

and that's were experience comes in. Personally i would of had ago even with my DF but the custys would of been under no illusions of the end result and i would of gained experience on trying.
-
Well it's a relief to know it's not exactly my fault then. I was pretty demoralized this afternoon, but as folks have said maybe just too far gone.
For the hell of it I could try some Powerburst or Trafficlean tomorrow, followed by some very hot water extraction.
-
You can and it will only look slightly better.
With experience you will tell what will clean like new and what will only look a bit better and then you can qualify it accordingly to the customer.
Then the choice is theirs and you dont get stressed out............ ;) 8)
-
Paul - I'll do the HWE anyway, as you say just for experience. Fortunately I did say to the customer that I doubted I could get it that much better and we proceeded on a 'give it a go' basis.
Didn't someone once say on here you should give a doubtful prognosis because then you can then 1. Say 'I told you so' or 2. Give the customer a nice surprise.
-
I would encap that.
Needs a couple of differetnbt pads.
Brushes are better for broadloom carpets IMO.
-
Yep, unless the brush is very stiff it will not provide enough friction to activate the encapsulation process. Standard shampoo brush's are too soft and designed to work with high foaming shamppo's.
-
depends on the speed of the rotary..

Will save my process for this until the TACCA day.
Out of interest what kind of business is this located at?
-
If you cant get a result using Dynamil and Brushes, Dont even think about using Dry-Fusion as it wont touch it!

Mark from Abacus Cleaning in Swindon kindly paid a visit to the site today and dramatically improved things with his Textatherm system. What a top bloke ;D

Is this like a Yeti siting. Conveniently forgot your camera this time. ;D

No, I do have a pic but I'd have to go upstairs to sort that out, which would involve moving. Tomorrow ;)
