Hi all. I have been reviewing my round and shall be putting my prices up, but whilst reviewing got me thinking about charging for time taken to do the clean.
My question is this, when charging for a job on a time taken basis do you charge from the time the brush/applicator touches the window until finished cleaning the last window or charge from the time you park up at the job (which would then include setting up gear/ladders, pulling out hoses etc) till the time you drive away?
You see some jobs I have I can get started (WFP) in minutes so very little time taken to set up and others could take 5/10 mins dragging hose around back!! And then we have the customers who (although saying that "time is money") continue to want to chat about the weather!!
So what do you do? Cheers

Ho w would you quote for a new customer,just guess or clean it first then give a price ???

For stand alone properties, I charge for the length of time from arriving to packing up and driving away - my hourly rate or proportion thereof.
If you are not already, then time yourself on a varied selection of your regular round, it will help get you rehearsed in what to charge, helping you to price more accurately and not underestimate how long things will take.
Whilst I agree that time is money, taking the time to listen to your customers, chat with them and establish a working relationship is to your benefit and is looking after your interests, I dont charge for this. ;)

Quote a price that I know for absolute sure that I can easily & comfortably get the job done in a certain time. I asses all possible issues first like access to property, access to every window, flower pots/beds, kids garden toys, dog crap etc etc.

This too, to a certain degree. Have to account for getting to a job & then getting to the next one after. Geography plays it's part. ;)
