Hey guys. Got back from the IWCA convention and trade show in Florida. It was awesome, made so many new friends and got loads of ideas for my window cleaning business. I have covered the event and will be showing pics, doing articles and throwing out one or two films for you guys to get a feel of it all....
I was tweeting as I was going to which was great as I could upload pictures of new stuff and the stands as I was looking at them....
FWC can certainly learn from what the IWCA are doing, thats for sure....

Serious question : How many of you would attend a trade show? And what are you looking for? Are you looking for speakers that will help you build a successful window cleaning business???
One thing that stood out the most was the round table breakfast in Florida. They also did other round table stuff where window cleaners met, ate and chatted shop. It was an eating and learning shop lol

I would attend a trade show if i thought i could improve my business :)

did they sell any good wash leathers. :)

At the trade show in the film it was also a window cleaning convention with speakers covering all aspects of business from getting leads, systemizing your business to things like employee retention and marketing. If a trade show had stuff like this would you go?

I am sure :)

Yes i would, its allright being able to buy all the gear at these shows, but to me that is only half the battle, getting good well paid work and been shown how to get it would get me to go :)

Id rather watch grass grow than listen to some boring old chunts talk out there backsides trying to make selfs feel important.
-
I think many would go if there were people there to motivate you to better your business and yourself

Sounds like every sales meeting I ever went to in the 80's and 90's - and I conducted a few! ;D

I would go just for the banter ;D

for the sole trader mainly domestic window cleaner i dont see the point in going to a trade show.i already use the best equipment i can afford to make my work as easy as possible.
as for getting good paying work i just canvass and leaflet affluent areas.
for commercial window cleaners and guys that employ i can see how a trade show could help them, networking etc.

That is all at these types of events. So that's cool.

100%. I guy I meet called Pete from New York told me he was interested in only one or two of the speakers but got most out of networking with other window cleaners. He was so buzzed up and motivated he was going home to strip back his business and rebuild it a new. His enthusiam was infectious!!

This is the thing that can be either organised by Clean It Up or the FWC. At the IWCA convention the banter rated highly by attendees. In the US they also have the WCN Picnic which consists of a very small trade show section but the main emphasis on the window cleaners and there family coming together for a massive BBQ and music.

Custie: Can I pay you next time , I haven't been to the post office?
Me: But Pete from New york said this isn't the way forward ?
Custie: f*** Pete from New York, can come tomorrow or I can pay u next time.
Me: see you next time then mrs 55yr old semi retired lady who thinks I am lower than the milkman in pecking order.
Me: (Sheesh that Pete from New York had it all planned out , why am I such a douchebag)
The answer is run your business your way, sure seek inspiration as I have but we ALL have cuties that operate differently than us.
