Title: What Equipment to Buy??? - Too much choice!
Post by: Craguss on February 16, 2006, 10:09:30 am
Hi There,

Could anyone give me any tips on what they think are the best: -

T-Bar + Sleeves (Swivel or normal) + (Unger or Pulex or Ettore)
Squeegees
Cloths (Micro fibre, Scrims, Leaher etc...)

Also things like Scrapers (to get rid of paint etc...)

There seems to be so much choice, i'd like some tips on what to buy. Thanks in advance.

this what i did when i got started.
i bought,
3 stage ladder,
1 tread step.
T bar with vileda mop.
normal squegee, (you dont need anything fancy)
ettore rubber
window scraper
bucket on a belt
bucket
and 6 scrims
it come to about £160 and i was off and running,
dont be fooled by all the different stuff on the market.
or you could go to a cleaning supplier and tell him what you are doing and he will advise you on what to get.
hope this helps

Hi

Go to www.soapnational.co.uk  (http://www.soapnational.co.uk) there about the cheapest and very helpful.

Personally unger etc are good but more money,
if your on a tight budget  I'd go for pulex as there cheaper and do the job just as good.

I would definitely recommend www.soapnational.co.uk

Unger products cant be faulted in my opinion,

I would pay up for the ergotec handle and stainless steel channels, I started with brass and all the messing about with clips to change rubbers is a pain, the ergotec is so easy.
if you are just starting out get a 10" channel and 12" you will find it much easier leraning with the 10" .... my experience anyway!

hope it helps

Squeegee - Unger for me but avoid plastic why not spend the extra few quid on these and get the Brass version so you will not have to change it down the line.

Aplicator - Unger too, but Plastic 14" monsoon head still the bizz

pre washed scrim but still wash it again no harm in it.

Also back starting out but remember as in any trade you get what you pay for ....... Just like your customers
