Post by: Simon Gerrard on February 12, 2013, 04:38:23 pm
Is the a particular way to enter keywords into site properties for a website. Anyone care to give an example of how cover keywords for various areas and services?

Is this what you're looking for Simon:

<meta name="keywords" content="Cleaning, cleaner, carpet, etc, etc>

Does google recognise individual words, so if you have the words carpet, Manchester, cleaning, would the sites containing those keywords be found as easily as carpet cleaners in Manchester, the tendency is to keep using the same words to cover different services and areas, but is there a need to do that, or can you have a string of keywords that are not necessarily in the right order but are contained in the google search? Apparently repetition of keywords is not good?

Dunno, I'm not a SEO expert.  But I did manage to get my website on the first page of google within a month - there's far more to it than meta tags.  Keeping it on the first page is an ongoing battle.

Don't know what you are using to enter tags simon, but generally speaking you are better off homing in on a phrase and keywords for a page anyway and then do seperate pages.

Simon
google bots now take keywords from site content but not all the engines do so you still need the html for the other engines. Although google accounts for 65% of web traffic you should not make your site unfrienly to the other 35% of traffic. The panda update will now penalise sites that have large photo content at the top of the site.
With your serif software the meta tags will automatically be put in if you list the keywords in the site properties. Do that and re emphasise keywords in site content and you will have all bases covered. There is an x6 version out now but I am still on x5 and getting telephone support,  so unable to comment.  I know on the earlier versions the html is a lot longer making sites less robot friendly.
Give me a bell if you like.

Google ignores meta keyword tag now has done for some time, im sure the others do as well.

Put key words in your title, metas description, urls and H tags.
