Cut a long story short: Bought a van recently already kitted out with WFP. Just attempted to fill the tank for the first time and it's going incredibly slow, producing around 1 litre of purified water per 3 minutes.
I'm not au fait with all the names of stuff but I know the RO is supposed to be an Axeon HF4-4040 which should produce water really quickly, no? What is going wrong???

What's your water pressure in to the system?
What have you set the waste tap at? Ours is set to half way, so roughly 50% waste.
Check these first, then you may need to check the membrane is seated correctly in its housing.
-
Whats your water pressure going in? If its low obviously it will produce at a slower speed.
Have you made sure you have turned the RO flush numpty to producing mode as this will just let a trickle come out?
The way you can tell its in producing mode is the RO will make a loader noise as the water is pushed through the RO
-
Has it got a flush valve?
If it has check its not turned on.
-
OK I am an idiot so please treat me like one.
I have no idea about he pressure... It's just a bog standard outside garden tap.
There's noise when it's first started for 5 seconds or so and then nothing.
What's the flush valve?
Would photos help?

This is the flush valve on my system..have you any thing that looks the same?

Gonna attch 2 photos shortly. The right hand side of the RO has hose from the pre-filters and the right with the draw off stop cock (I was advised to buy and fit) is connected to the hose which goes to waste. Turning that stop cock thing don't seems to make little difference to the purification rate but at turned at one extreme produces virtually no waste and at the other just a trickle... Whichever way it's turned produces 000 TDS.
Can take more photos if you like.

Does the water pressure seem good coming out the garden tap?
-
Take more pics, the hf4 is a low pressure membrane. How far is your 4040 from the mains tap?
-
Joshem don't supose your from Oswestry? Mite have U mixed up with someone else

Strange ppl live in oswestry lad

Your telling me I wanna move gav ;D not to wrexham tho haha
-
Water pressure from tap seems fine. The van has been 6 metres from the tap at a guess. I'm not from Oswestry lol. I'm from the south east and my regular tap water is around 250 TDS.
-
Last pic,the brass valve with the square top, open it right up then close it half a turn. Give us a waste reading then a pure reading. You should get more than the amount you're saying.
-
A reading of the purity or how much water is produced?
-
A Tds of both. Trying to determine if your output is ok in comparrison to imput
-
Your pre-filters might be clogged with sediment etc and need replacing.
Or poor pressure or flush valve fully open.

Ok done this. Water now purifying at 1L/min :-D and waste reads 350 TDS whilst in action. I say in action as when turned off the waste that comes out after said 850 odd!
Sound right?
-
Yes,you're waste will always be higher than your tap reading. Check the Tds of your pure and if its ok then you can open the valve a tiny bit more. Are you happy with 60 litres an hour?. At low pressure that's not a bad flow rate
-
I have a 4040 with about 40 psi water pressure.
At this pressure Pure Freedom say that there won't be much difference between the performance of HF4 and HF5 membranes.
I produce fractionally less than 2 litres of water a minute pure as against fractionally over 2 litres of waste with an HF5.
My gut feel is that the prefilters need changing as per Dave Turley's advice, and this is what I would do first.
-
I fill at 45psi and get 100litres an hour. He's tripled his input already just by adjusting his waste,so this may need fine tuning to get more. I've had the same per filters for three years and they have never affected pressure, unless of course he may have a slight blockage but considering input and output is at the the top of the canister, I can't see it myself
-
The kit in the van was advertised as all 'brand new' so I hope they don't need changing. I really can't understand why I couldn't do this earlier but thank you so much for all your help, you lot are amazing :D
One thing: when it's all connected and in the process of filtering (say adjusted at half a turn off fully open): if I adjust the stop cock/waste valve thingy just half a turn, the waste water almost stops. But when I readjust it (turning it back half a turn to starting position) there's still no waste water... bizarre?
-
I've got rid of the photos cos I was sick of em trying to load on my phone!
-
you want to close the waste tap then open it 1/4-1/2 a turn not open it then close it 1/2 a turn. Basically you adjust the waste to get the optimum lowest output tds from your ro.

What Lee said ;)

It still may need new prefilters. I found that a run of dirty water from a pipe burst and repair in the street could block the sediment filter in a few minutes. They aren't expensive and must be replaced regularily anyway.
I have also helped a mate out who has good water pressure and flow, but hadn't changed his prefilters in a while. The result was that hardly any water was getting through to the membranes.

OK I'll look into it. Where is the best place to get them?
-
where u based ;)
-
Kent but I always get my stuff online...
