Title: Alternative to prochen brass quick release couplings ?
Post by: david knowles on February 09, 2013, 01:14:11 pm
Hello there I have just priced the prochem brass quick release coupling on the solution hose  and they are soo expensive has anyone ever used standard quick release air couplings ? and could you see a problem if i use these instead.
Thanks Dave

I used some for a while, and whilst they are sufficient for the job.... they rust and break down after a few months, and therefore you spend more per year than you would on the proper item..

I am all for trying to save, but in this case I found it better to use the correct device..

Try other suppliers they'll probably be cheaper just make sure they have the stainless tips, I find they last much longer. Cleansmart, Restormate, Solutions etc should have them.

look for firms around your area who deal in pressure washing supplies etc they'll get them for you.

the one i found were £29 for the female and £14 for the male.
but thanks to the advice got that down to £10 for the female and £6 for the male.
£45 against £16 thats what i meant by expensive.
I am just finding out where to go for the best value.
thanks guys

Trouble is the quality varies so much some of them are garbage.

I agree John... I am guilty of purchasing cheap T jets and quick connects from ebay, only to find the jets are poorly machined resulting in inaccurate spray patterns
The cheap QC after a while become more and more difficult to connect!

It is true... buy cheap... buy twice

And they're not all compatible, though they should be.

I have ordered from Restormate half the price of Prochem.
If they are a generic type and not a manufacturers they should be able to be sourced from somewhere.
Will wait and see what they are like when the turn up ??
