Does anyone have an experience of cleaning Astrotuf?
This is new astroturf fitted on one of our ships in December. They think some steel plates have been placed on it which may have rusted in the snow.
Any ideas how to clean it?

I've cleaned astro turf before and it cleans very well it will take just about anything you throw at it.

Any ideas chemical wise?

I have used a pressure washer before in tennis court , cleaned well ,lots of rust marks from garden furniture in the surrounding area.

Hi simon
If it's rust take some phosphoric acid with you and try a small area, you could then pad it and extract to neutralise.
Cheers

Hi Simon
I would spray craftex rust remover on it, then rinse off

Why you still cleaning if there your Ships must be a millionaire already ;D ;D ;D

I think you'll be surprised on what gets removed with hwe I would then apply ultrapak then rinse then what's left apply rust remover on a cloth obviously wearing gloves.
I wouldn't think they'd be any problems.

Is that Billy? Think I've just heard him say "hello sailor"
Shaun

You should adopt that uniform for your business, people wouldn't forget you, they'd be like 'who was that carpet cleaner who dressed like a sailor, Gerrard's Sailers!. Google him'
-
Not sure id want to spray hydrocloric acid aka craftex rust remover.
Ever.

AstroTurf is more often than not made from olefins - which allows you to throw virtually any cleaner on it - including peroxides/chlorine bleach.
You just need to check this one isn't a olefin/nylon composite
-
Try rust remover on small area diluted down first to see if that works if not try it stronger mix, could cost in chemical so charge accordingly.
-
Simon;
No need to worry. It should clean up very easily as shaun ashmore had allutted to.
"If it were me", I would add a good punch of clear vinegar (pre-spray and let dwell) to the troubled area.
Hope this helps.

Bonaclean Gel is worth trying on this. You can spray hydrofluoric down on top of this. We do this on poolsides.
-
Or, just hire a professional to do it!
;D ;D
-
Billy,
Gtfusft ;D

10 bottles of craftex rust remover and a big deck hose to wash it down with. Maybe neutralise it with some champion. Wouldn't want to let it go over the side though, it's evil stuff.
-
And yes don't spray it just use the little applicator it comes with
