I am going to buy a 4040 system with inline TDS and pre filters to replace my Merlin, has anyone got any recomendations of which to buy or avoid?

I got mine from GAPS water treatment they have packs ready to buy, you just assemble it yourself. cant remember how long ago a good while though, still going strong don't have any complaints apart from low pressure :) but that's not the systems fault.

Got mine from Gaps about a month ago. Lovely piece of kit.

As others have said GAPS are good to deal with and its where I bought my original system from.
But don't overlook VYAIR. Phil has been very helpful and I recently bought a replacement membrane from him. He sells a complete system with booster pump or just the parts you need at very competitive prices (imo). What I also like about his system is the way the waste is set up with a needle valve but also a bypass pipe before it with a simple lever valve. Essentially you set the waste where you want it and then just have to turn a lever open or closed to flush, something I'll be putting in my system soon. ;)

Another vote for GAPS, June there is extremely knowledgeable, and her after sales service is superb.

Before you start, a 4040 r/o needs a good water pressure and water volume.
It would be good to check what your water pressure is to begin with as you may also have to factor a booster pump into the equation.
You will also need to know this so the can supply you the correct membrane, HF4 or HF5.
If you are processing water into an IBC tank, then you will need to consider an automated system for switching the water (and booster pump if needed) off when the tank is full. They don't have an auto switch off built into the system like the Merlin does.

I would consider getting the ez pure from Gardiners, all the connectors are push fits, and you have a choice of the hf4 or hf5. They are the 20in version though but that would still produce a good amount of water, or you could get the twin version which would act the same as the 4040.

If got the pre filter and di canister, but still use my existing 4040 which I have fitted pushfit fittings to, the RO membrane is still working well. I will consider getting the ez pure membranes when my RO needs replacing because I like the way they easily connect and is a nice compact setup.

June (GAPS water treatment) is very knowledgeable and helpful regarding RO choices and setup.

the RO'S at gaps for window cleaners are also push fit, very easy to set up.
