Title: Oiled wood flooring
Post by: Steve Barnett (Carpet Care Plus) on February 06, 2013, 05:54:49 pm
A client of mine has a solid wood plank floor with an oiled finish, laid in her hall. It's filthy due to her 3 monster-sized dogs.

She only wants to remove as much dirt as possible at this stage, rather than my suggestion to sand and re-seal.

I'm think of using a neutral ph cleaner, lightly misted and buffed with a red pad.

I don't want to rinse due to potential absorbtion problems.

Should I buff off using a white pad or a toweling pad ?

Dont use a floor cleaner as its designed to remove oil and will dry out the floor.

Get something like Bona Soap or Osmo Wash & Care this will help feed the floor at the same time.

Then apply a light coat of oil with a roller then buff up. My preference is to buff with either old carpet bonnets, white pad, a gumati/bassine brush or the old style grey army blankets.
