Title: how do you pay for your van?
Post by: mick hay on February 06, 2013, 01:04:27 pm
i paid cash for my van back in 2007, and am considering getting a new/newer van this year. I hate owing money, always been brought up to pay cash and never borrow.

However, being a business expense, im looking to lease/hp for a new van, so how to you pay for yours??

Ive had newer vans and loans but didn,t like paying monthly on top of the stupid things breaking down . Best desision ive ever made is buying a 1998 toyota van for 1500 quid. No hassle with payments and no breakdowns or faults whatsoever.. Its not how much u pay but its the brand of van u choose .

Good advice that ..
I wouldn't advise to lease if you're a one man band as you're tied
In for too long.
Always best to pay cash if not get a personal/ business loan

I had the cash to pay for my van but got offered a deal that worked out costing an extra £17 a month. (£1k over 5 years.) for a brand new Trafic.
Was all ready to pay in cash but when I worked it out, I felt better putting the cash in a savings account and having it there if I needed it.
Yes it is a bit more expensive but I feel better knowing there's cash there if I need it.
The days of always paying cash as the best option seem to have gone.

If you get a lease van your tax will be offset differently, my accountant said. Not quite sure how though, didn't affect me so I didn't ask...
