Ok. got one. Seen all the posts saying don't !! Its been great for 18 months and not had a problem but do have now.
It suddenly stopped producing any pressure yesterday. Start engine up, thats fine, pull trigger on lance it works ok in a fashion but it doesn;t snap your arm back a bit like it used to do. Pressure is well down, pulling the trigger does not make the engine fire up faster like it normally does. If i manually press the accelerator then the water does come out faster but not like it did. Also the brass pump is cold and stays cold, it normally gets very hot. Any ideas?

Also, where the lance plugs into the pump i took it off and replaced the little spring valve inside. I understand the brass bit is the pump? WHat is the grey coloured ,finned part? Part of the pump, a gear box? Any help would be great, even just describing what the bits are.

I can describe every part but that won't help. It would be worth contacting the local agent for these machines for advice but I'd start with the internal unloader having checked the supply flows to the pump as it should ie filters etc. Buy nice or buy twice - my honda interpump has been trouble free for 8 years ;)

If you could give me a heads up on some of the parts that would help me maybe for future maintainance etc.. I was a mechanic quite a lot of years ago so have a basic grasp, although i know nothing about these pumps. Did speak to agent he suggested that valve i changed, then he suggested unscrewing the three brass pistons and looking in there? There is two guys in Kiam, one breadhead and one helpfull guy called Ted. Unfortunatley Ted is on holiday for a fortnight or i wouldn;t be posting this. If you could give me a heads up where to locate the internal unloader that would be good? I'm aware of the unloader valve itself but nothings coming out of that ?

The brass part is the head where the valves are - the bottom ones are inlet and the top ones delivery, if they are worn or have crap in them then they will by-pass resulting in low pressure. Also check the drive key. Are there any leaks externally - water will be piston seal failure in the head and oil piston seal in the gearbox. Is the piston travelling full stroke ?
1 check unloader v/v
2 pump head valves
3 mechanical failure
4 replace pump with interpump or other reputable brand

Did you antifreeze it through the last cold spell?

No never anti freezed it :-[
No leaks on it at all. I'll have a mooch at it this morn and maybe consider going for an interpump.

Ok, had a proper look in the light. Have i got water in my oil here, is this the seals on the pistons in the brass pump head causing it?

If its the same as an Interpump there is an air gap between the piston and the valves and you can see a sign underneath if the piston seals are shot but I doubt if that will be the cause of the problems. Undo those six brass caps in the head and inspect the valves - if you try to blow through it should be airtight.

sounds like the valves. similar happened to me recently. Machine lost its kick. replace the valves and pressure regualtor and now all ok.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I've also looked at some you tube videos and pump diagrams (although i can't find the exact one for mine). But i 'm sure i've a grasp of how it all works now. I'm going to strip the head tomorrow. I'll let you know how i go.
