Title: will my combi ladder be ok left on top of my van
Post by: Roland S on January 31, 2013, 09:29:16 pm
hi

i carry around one of those combi ladders, the type that can be a platform, stepladder or normal ladder. but it takes up quite a bit of space in my van. i'm wondering if it will rust badly if it was left on my van roof all the time including overnight? i'm guessing a normal ladder would be ok, but becuase this has more moving parts i'm unsure, anyone know?

won't it get stolen, when i started a good few years ago, i had a cheap ladder on the roof rack, it was clamped on and padlocked, they stole the lot.

i now take ladders off every night, they are worth a lot more now.

well i 've got ladder clamps that padlock i thought that would be sufficient, i park on my drive and it's a quiet area, i just wasn;t sure if they would corrode or not

I carry combi ladders on top of my van and I have not experienced any problems as yet. Best to spray some wd40 in the moving parts now and again, this should stop anything seizing up.

Same here, mine have been on the roofbars for two years - no signs of problems
