Hi all,
Reference the recent posts that have going up for partner companies- a bit more detail as follows-
In a few weeks time a new national web based company for our industry is going live.
Local carpet and upholstery cleaning companies are needed across the UK to undertake the domestic jobs that it will yield. I am covering a part of Oxford myself!
It has been financially very well funded and put together, there's no catch involved and the only likely cost to anyone wishing to participate is under £5 per month. Not bad as this is the only cost involved to the businesses coming on board... it's like work acquired with no advertising cost!
The project has been designed to provide great value for the customer, company undertaking the work and of course the website. There's no winner or loser in the process...thats not what its about!
Now, this may not appeal to everyone which is fine, but for those who are interested it would be great to hear from you.
The rate is £2.50 per meter plus vat if registered (there is no cost though in acquiring the job and attending to quote it...this is all done by us). (Min charge £66)
Upholstery and light in-situ cleaning (toweling down with micro splitter) of curtains is also a service that would need to be covered by companies interested.
Anyone interested please email me
jon@huntscleaning.com
Thanks
ps to those already on board with the project, we are making great progress and I will be emailing an update very soon. If I don't already have all the information discussed from you, nows a great time to send it, thanks, Jon
-
The l;ast post said an hourly rate. Has that now changed to the m2 rate?
m2 is better than hourly imo
-
Yes the jobs are priced at a rate per meter. £2.50
The hourly rate was an initial indicator for a worst case scenario which has now been firmed up to the above. This rate per meter is better than the hourly rate.
-
hi jon. it was great speaking to you and we will deffo be signing up to this. it seem a great opportunity to fill up the diary.
il be in touch later in the week

Sounds a good idea, worth giving a try anyway.
The one thing i'd like to know though is, how do you ascertain an accurate meterage of the domestic property?
I'm presuming you price and work out size's over the phone, i can't see you going out to quote every job.
The one thing i have learnt is never to trust a domestic customer when it comes to size's.
I can see operators cleaning more than they get paid for and i can see problems paying by m2.
-
I'm sure Jon will answer about the accurate measurements of rooms but my understanding of it is the customer fills out all the information on the website and the price is calculated from that automatically. If when you get there the area is way out then you can explain to customer that the information provided was inaccurate and in order for you to proceed you can provide them with an up to date price for the actual area.
Having met Jon and heard his proposition I was very impressed and if it fills some empty dates in my diary for no up front costs on my part it is a win win situation.
Looking forward to seeing the finished website Jon and for the sceptics out there, yes you know who you are :) i for one think this is a genuine partnership that Jon is offering to supplement your own business as and when required.
-
Thanks, Richard & Lewis,
Yes the measurements are gathered and priced accordingly...the key to this project though is in the detail! (we are covered against undersized rooms!)
The customers we will be dealing with in the project are filtered, pre qualified and deposits taken so don't worry the risk is minimal. The chances of having a bad customer are greater in our day to day dealings in our own companies.
The customers involved will be a targeted portion of the market place...the good portion! ;-)
Its probably not wise to go into any more detail on this thread as a sensible way to understand it is in its entirety. So any interested parties please get in touch jon@huntscleaning.com
Look forward to hearing from you.
-
Thanks Richard, will look in to it.
I would not say i am a sceptic, but i know how much it costs to get a site like this on the first page of google for multiple areas and have seen this tried many times.
I known an owner of a large pest control franchise and you would be absolutely stunned how much he spends on SEO per month, i mean stunned, i'm not even going to say how much because know one would believe me it's that massive.
Works for him though, but he must have balls of steel.
Good luck with it though and i shall be in touch.
-
How much? ;D
-
Jon, would you like to respond to my email a few hours ago.
-
Its ok Jon, i think i have found the info

-
No Paul, This is not it, sorry that should have been removed a long time ago!
I have replied to your email
Thanks
Jon
-
Paul its easy, they get the work at £6.00 per m2 and get guys on the forum to do it at 2.50 per m2.
not for me though.
-
£2.50pr sqm, what if your vat registered?
-
It's £2.50 plus vat if you are registered Billy.
-
Just thought I would give you the heads up. There is another company based in Maidenhead that are launching a similar thing this year.
Which is why I thought it best to sit back for a while and see how thins pan out
Cheers
Justin
-
Tevor Woodman used to do simular.
-
Hi Guys
I suppose it will be based on Google adwords, charging customers £6 per metre, paying £2.50, deducting cost of Adwords and other expenses and hopefully making a profit.
What would concern me is how quickly I will get paid and whether this whole thing will collapse in say 9 months with the local CC being the one left out of pocket.
Cheers
Doug

Nice to see someone who appreciates how much time/effort goes into "proper" SEO for a competitive market.

I love the way that guys on hear can voice oppinions and veiws on things that they know nothing about. All it takes to find out is to make a call.
As soon as I saw £40 per hour I thought great with my productivity I can probably treble that.
There is a lot of very negative people on here!
Who (unless they are rushed off their feet, or charge very premium rates), is going to pass by an opportunity of work, without any outlay. Or even make the effort to investigate.

Is this senario possible?
The customer goes to Jon's website and says yes to the cleaning at £6 per sq meter. Job is booked in with the local CC, who goes round, does the job. Carpets look great etc.
Isnt that CC going to give that customer their leaflet, information, phone number etc. So in future, as the customer was happy with the cleaning done by the CC, wont they just call that CC again, and not go through Jon's site? Efectifly they will only use his site once?
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Quite possible ;)
-
You really don't need to speculate, its no big secret, you just have to contact Jon and ask him and I am sure he will furnish you with all the information you ask.
If your not interested you walk away, if you are interested you join in, at this point there is no outlay!
Win win if you ask me, but thats just my opinion.
Good luck Jon
Tony

Why doesn't Jon just put the full details up here , he will have lots of negative comments if he just drip feeds information,
He has chosen to use CIU to recruit carpet cleaners ( has he contacted the owners to ask permission to use CIU for commercial advertising?)
If you want to stop speculation and unfavourable comments then inform the members what it's all about,
Good luck to him with his venture but don't vilify Anyone who makes comments on a open forum, they have more right to ask questions than Jon does to advertise for free when other companies pay to push their services
-
I have just checked google for carpet cleaner my area and TACCA comes up now on the first page. 8)
Thought this is a great result considering it isnt in full flow yet, NCCA didnt show up.
If Jonn's site produces work @ £2.50 I would think a lot would be getting a reduced rate to what they normally charge, great if you are quiet or new to the industry.
If it was on my local search @ £6m2 I would put my rate up to £4-5m2, quids in,
I did this when Chemdry appeared local to me. Best thing that happened to the industry.
Guess it depends what your diary is like.
-
I think its a great idea ,
How can you worry about getting your money ????
The customer pays you as normal, and where do you get the figure £2.25 payment out of £6.00!!!!!!
Some of you must know more than I do ::)
Geoff
-
Peter at £40 an hour if you do it three times faster with you 'productivity' your get three times less money.
-
But isn't the consumer generally looking for a local operator? Someone they can trust to enter their home? Chem Dry, for instance, are a big franchise/national company, but all their operators put an emphasis on who they are as individuals.
So I think a lot of people may well be put off by a national website sending round 'faceless' operatives, particularly consumers who are willing to pay a higher price for a tradesman they feel they can trust.
This may be slightly less of an issue if you could ever build enough brand awareness in the site, but realistically establishing a national brand costs millions, even in today's age of viral marketing and the Internet!
-
Hi all,
I do not wish to abuse the forum by blatantly advertising for free.
The project in question is proving popular with a lot of carpet cleaners and is more of a mutual partnership rather than me selling my wares to the forum users.
What might be an idea is this:
Those who are genuinely interested in participating in a new project, and if the info I have already given is acceptable then email me and we can communicate from there!
Those who are more curious and not seeing the value in what I have suggested so far- Wait a few weeks until the project is live and we can talk then, if it grabs you.
What I can say is that the carpet cleaners involved in the project take 2/3 the value of the job and the 1/3 is used to market that operator and cover costs. We do also get paid from this 1/3 but thats just fair....we all got to eat! .....as I mentioned before no winners or losers in the project , good value all round I think is the key!
(that 2.50 by the way is the 2/3 so the site charges at 3.75)

People are very quick to make assumptions when they don't know the full details. Why don't you message Jon and find out, then if you feel the need you can tear it apart.
I think it's a great idea, it doesn't cost anything therefore how can I possibly be out of pocket? It's priced generously so you won't be working for peanuts either. If it works we win, if it doesn't then it's not cost me anything.

24p a square foot generous ? (12x12 room = £34)
Its not like dirt cheap but its not generous
(2.50m2 is 24p a foot)
-
Craigp
Minimum charge £66 I think he said w/o looking
back on the post.

Craig ,
before you come to conclusions, i suggest your look into it in a little more detail,
ie. like a minimim charge of £100.
and lets be honest not to many rooms are as small as that , take a room 12x18 hardly big, equated to £52, 00
well i can assure you i wont be sniffing at that, how ever if you are obviously making so much already ,its not for you.

I like to work direct for my customers and 24p a foot is quite a lot lower than what I charge. thats why I'm not calling Jon, and seeing Jon is a fellow fast tracker I know he wouldn't either ;)
No offence as I know it will be inline with what others charge on here anyway, each to their own.
-
WTF is a fast tracker.... ???

Much too cheap, and do you really want to encourage some third party to get higher Google rankings than you? I think, as has been said, this may get a first job (at a low price) - from then on, if the guy doing the job's got any nouse, he'll deal direct.
-
Ive spoken with John today ( nice bloke), the whole thing sounds good and well thought out, if the guys working in the background can do a good job in terms of seo and web design then it can be a winner :D
Im in :)
-
Are we talking about a professional national website with online quotes and bookings? is that it?
-
those that want to see how" it pans out" are going to look pretty daft if it takes off and their area has already been given to someone else
Good business decision!

Come on Peter, you know on CIU we like to criticise without knowing the facts.

At the end of the day guys. If it does work I know I have secured my area and if it doesn't then I haven't lost anything!! :)
