Gardiners used to sell 1/2" nito
Fittings they were dear ish but
Superb like a bigger version of the ez snap

Oh yes a billion times
Better than hose lock connectors

Instead of the NITO fittings we now do our own unique range of professional quality Quick Release fittings for DI vessels that are fully compatible with standard garden hose connectors. They are leak free up to pressure of about 300psi - they also will not leak when not under pressure.
You would want the ones with the 3/4" male thread. We have both the female shut-off versions or the male versions - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/QR-Metal-Hose-Couplings.html

What to your reel????
Which ones have you used
Iv got to get rid of 4 hose lock fittings
-
Are you sure the leak is from the hoselock fittings and not from the male fitting which is screwed into the DI as i use ptfe tape on these fittings as they can be quite loose in the DI vessel :)

1/2" John Guest pipe is a nice tight fit inside 1/2" plastic hose - a couple of jubilee clips will give a solid connection so you can have the fittings in the cylinder with a short length of 1/2" JG pipe and then your usual hose.

The OP was talking about the DI vessel but I do sort of use JG for the reel:
