Don't think it is free any more. But I have Santender but only just transferring window cleaning customers onto them. Still cheaper than any others.
-
Santander is still free.
There was talk about them charging but when the account kicked off it was 'free for life'.
A number of complaints ensued and they backed down.
Definitely free for existing customers

No danger I'd go anywhere near Santander.
They are hopeless. My account with them had no manager?!?!?! what the **** is that about?!?!?!?
They paid wages out my account twice and expected me to demand it back?!?!?!? I could not even go in and shout at someone!
Amateurs.
Go to a proper bank and negotiate a deal with a business Manager. I am with RBS and my manager Tommy is great. If I need something or there is a problem he will do his best to help.
Cheapest is rarely best.

For a sole trader they are fine. Your situation is more complex with numerous employees.

Online and phone. I guess that is a drawback as there is no personal relationship. Ok if things are simple though. I am pretty sure it isn't free for new customers but I could be wrong. Go online and open an account.
It was the old Girobank, so you can only post cheques or use an envelope at Santander branches. No counter service at all.

You're right,it isn't free to new customers.I pay £7.50 a month for unlimited BACS,cheques etc,I pay my coins in at the post office and it goes directly into my account. For me it works well.

Bank of Scotland bit usless sometimes but overall good been with them for years .
Just recently opened Natwest account due to house move thought i would use bank in town but when checking online it does not list custys reference for payments .
So might keep BOS account and just use natwest to deposit cash and cheques to save driving 5 miles to local Halifax bank to pay into BOS account . Mike

When you look at the mini statement it does not give the reference , but when you go into full statement, you can put dates from and to that you want to look at and it gives full details on there

Natwest £25 a month all in for everything ... fixed price based on turnover ... same for everyone just need to go in and ask

i'm with lloyds .it was free for 18 moths and then the charges started.around £40-45 ,shocking.i went to the bank and see what i could do but couldn't speak wit anyone as i can only do it over the phone (i presume same as santander)anyway managed to change it to internet tariff and the charges dropped to £25 but i still consider changing it to santander as i can't do anything in the branch everything is over the phone or in writing which is very annoying .plus the charges will drop to £7 /month for pretty much same service
