Title: Richard Clue`s van video and hose.
Post by: richard jagger on January 28, 2013, 06:20:02 pm
I as looking at your van video. How did you get the pole hose into a cork screw and does it keep its shape using hot water. What made you think of this idea? It`s  a clever idea instead of a hose in the pole.

Rich

just weighed out a spare hose,

the airline hose that i use has brass fittings on that weighted in at 214g's

and i have just weighed gardiners Hazard Yellow Pole Hose 7.8mm OD, cut to the same length to the coiled hose
http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Hazard-Yellow-Standard-Pole-Hose-8mm-OD-sold-in-100-Metre-Reel-PVC_YELLOW_100M_7_8.html

that has no fittings on, and that weighed in at 319gs!

both without water in!

so my hose is 105g lighter than a leading brand hose out there, and might even last longer too

The only thing that just struck me now, which I did not consider at first its a lot longer coiled and will be heaver than a strait hose so will not work for my needs.
Did you buy all new tools when you build your van. Must of cost a packet.
Thanks anyway.

only heavier than a straight hose when using it on a fully colapsed pole, but when at full hight it is light than a straight hose!!!

what idea did you have?

I was going to say dont dismiss it yet Smithie , how straight is the hose at full extension of the pole , im just thinking in the lines of a conector at the base of pole to lite 5 or similar small length to reel hose , that would enable the use of some kind of tap / switch for water on/off without the need of AD or big loop of pole hose with the trigger method .

Right, results with both hose's filled with water.

1st off, the inside diameter of the hoses:-

My airline hose :-  6mm
Gardiners hose :- 5mm

so my airline holds more water!

weigh in results :-

My airline :- 437g's

Gardiners hose :- 459g's
