............picked up my new van this week , Ford Connect (LWB) , very pleased with it, getting used to not having a rear view mirror, I was just wondering if anybody has attached a "reversing camera kit " to any of their vans and what your thoughts are about them and are they any good.
cheers,
Paul

Paul just stick your own rear view mirror on, you can get them from halfords.
-
Not much use if its got no rear windows :)

Unless you need to put on your lipstick.
-
Just stick a picture of a nice sunny beach with hotties on it to the bulk head, you will feel better then.
Oh and good for your lippy to ;D

Hi Guys
It's nice people stop tailgating because there's no point as you cannot see them!
Cheers

On a serious note.
I have cameras on my vans and cars now as there is a lot of insurance scammers starting up in this country now

I had reversing sensors fitted on my lwb Connect, simply due to worry of little kids stepping behind van as I park etc !!
My TomTom is fitted to rear view mirror bracket & wired into electrics ...... saves that stupid circle on windscreen that shows scallies that you have a sat nav to nick ::)
-
Paul, you get used to it very quickly. Having no rear view mirrors actually trains you to use your wing mirrors properly :)
Another thing I've noticed when getting in other peoples' vehicles is they have the wing mirrors set completely wrong! In your normal driving position they should just show a little bit of the vehicle side, and the nearside one is best angled down a bit so you can see the kerb when parking.
Who remembers the good ol' days when cars only had one wing mirror on the off side?!!! ;D
-
Jim wasn't that about the same time they used to walk in front of the car waving a flag ;D
-
I have reversing camera on one van and sensors on the other. It does help a lot especially with bollards and the like that are impossible to see without them.

i agree with jim . you get used to it pretty quick . you should learn how to park it without a camera. :)
-
Wing mirrors should be set to show
a third of the van and two thirds the
rest.
-
One thing I wouldnt like to be without on a van now are reversing sensors- they are great!

I agree with Jim, I only ever use my wing mirrors when I drive the car now, I also find motorway driving much easier in a van especially when changing lanes.
-
Probably the technology they have on cars now for women will filter down to vans in the future. :D
-
*like*
;D
-
SIMPLE......use your door mirrors :)

Regardless of your skill, you cannot see directly behind you with your wing mirrors only, we are guessing that no one is behind us, think the camera is a really good idea, but i cant find the Tom Tom that has this facility, don't want another seperate gadget that needs plugging in.
-
Hope you don't think TomTom is for seeing backwards Jim, it just seemed like an ideal place to put it where I would naturally look but out of sight of the toerags that nick them ;D
-
No Chris ;D when i looked around i did find a satnav that has a reversing camera built in you switch between the two, it was very expensive but seemed a good idea to use one screen for two uses.

"When the loud bang occurs, you have reached the bollard behind you"
;D

A bang I could deal with but a mother or childs scream, I could not live with :-X
