Title: Black rubber soled slipper marks
Post by: brianbarber on January 24, 2013, 09:43:00 pm
Just done a quote, lot of black marks in front of an armchair.
The chap showed me the slippers, they are lke a boot, emu/ugg design.
On inspecting the pile the black marks appear to be surface only

Any ideas on how to tackle this?

Any idea would be appreciated

Any solvent on a white towel should take it off then clean as normal.

Look out for severe pile wear as these slippers act like sandpaper.

what i do is go and quote the job and when the customer has gone out to get his calender to book you in, i get his slippers and stick sand paper to the soles. When you come to clean it a few days later it will be all gone. ;)

Look out for severe pile wear as these slippers act like sandpaper.

Years ago we did one like this for an old chap, explained at quote stage the probable damage to the pile (which would show up after cleaning) put it in writing on the quote, checked with his carer that both she and he understood what may be found underneath the rubbered areas (there were lots).
Cleaned and yes damage to the fibres......had copy of quote and showed both the areas affected, they both said they understood.......3 days later, old chap f'ing and blinding down phone saying we had ruined his carpet and he wanted new out of us. Went round and his carer said take no notice, he's forgotten what you explained.....moral of the story, sometimes no matter how much you explain verbally and in writing it can blow up in yer face..... :)
