I used to worry about 000 too, we've been cleaning with 009-012 for about 6 months without a problem (apart from having no customers left  ;D )

000 for me but that's me

000 is just a convenient benchmark to measure the quality of water that's been purified.  There is no rule that says 0 parts per million is the correct stuff to use for cleaning windows, it could be 50 parts per mill, or 1 part per billion, only experiment will establish what is suitable so you need to try it and see what works for you.  We use up to 15 ppm and then monitor results a bit more carefully - if there seems to be an increased incident of spots etc, we take action.

i also will work up to around 015 tds then i change my resin.

got an ionics catalogue through the post the other day about purifying PARTS PER BILLION!! ??? ??? ???

what really is the point if the water we use does the job?? ??? ???

very expensive as we ve all come to expect from ionics.does it really clean better and faster?cant imagine i could go any faster than i do already!in fact if you blink youll miss me when im out working im that fast!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

ive been using 42ppm straight my garden tap since end of november
dont ask me why...just thought i would try it.i havent had one complaint

70% of houses its been no problem on the other 30% ive just
quickly stuck a squeegee on a trad pole and done a basic drying off.

i would imagine by the lighter nights it might not be so straightforward
but for now works okay

maybe im too fussy

my understanding which could be wrong is that the higher the tds the more lightly to leave mineral spots on the glass that can stain the glass

we have all been to a job were there is mineral spots that wont come off

I dont understand why you guys are too tight to change the resin or filters? For a small amount of money to get water to 000 tds why risk it?  ???

Why waste money and water when you dont need to?

Nay. 0 tds all the time for me. After a period when the resin starts to get exhausted I allow it to go to 3 then change but never for more than a few weeks. Like others I'm obsessed with 0 but it may be ok at other readings just not willing to take the risk at 5 plus!

Hi Alan, I've had problems with spotting at the BOTTOM of windows in the past at 015 and 017 so I don't go over 10 now.

I wouldn't fancy using 050.

He would use 50 if I let him, but I don't  ;D I test the water, and if it's over 10 he's made to change the resin!

100% the way i do it.

Does make me laugh why people try to scrimp or what will cost them the most money should when they get a problem.

its not hard to keep it at 000

Why risk to save such a small amount of money, when you risk a lot more ?>

I get around 004 from my RO so I think it a waste of money for me to spend £80 on a bag of resin and it also saves faffing about when time comes to change resin.

A bag of resin to take it from 4 down too 0 would last ages and ages!

+ the fact if you had a van mounted vessel you could fill up at customers houses. Saving time and money.

Yes but it still cost £80 to buy and unless you use the whole bag in one go, it means you have to store the remainder and keep it airtight and moisture free so it does not go off. Plus and cannot be bothered to faff about with resin -changing and disposing of- when I do not need to.
