I used to use Nochex and had a link on my payments page, it was a bit cheaper than paypal but they still charged. Then I got to thinking that if they could pay by paypal/nochex, they could pay by bank transfer which is free.

I have PayPal on my website but the charges have meant i'm steering people to BACS now. Fee-free.
I still offer it as I want to remove all barriers to payment. I'd rather have payment by BACS (or cheque or in cash). Ideally BACS as I offer a SAE service which equates to the PayPal fee more or less.

Paypal is brilliant - ok there are charges, but if it means that customers pay faster & you don't have to collect then it can't possibly be a bad thing!
The best way to do it is to get the customer to pay BEFORE you clean,.. I'm working on a website at the moment for a window cleaner in Ireland who wants this: http://avondhucleaning.com/sub/cleanco.ie/index.html (under construction)
