All on line
www.localmole.co.uk
www.touchlocal.co.uk
www.scoot.co.uk

When you sign up with local mole you get featured on all 3 it also includes:
Ask Jeeves, the independant and the sun

We all know there is hundreds out there and they all claim they get millions of hits and if a client searches in a particular area only the carpet Hygienists from that area will show! these days i,m not totally convinced that google gives the best results especially pay per click.

Do people search for carpet hygienists?

Do a search for services (not companies) that are advertising with them and see how they rank?

Personally, I don't like the 'paid for' online directories much.

Tried Scoot years ago & never got anything off it.

If people are deserting better known directories like Yell in droves then it is highly likely that the same could be siad for Scoot...and the others you mention.

You have to put yourself in your customers shoes. Would you search for a service on those sites. Personally I can't be bothered and would look at the actual sites that come up first in the search results.

Exactly. £250 could be spent on leaflets/adwords which would generate a LOT more business.
